This policy explains what happens to data when you visit tearsofmetal.org. It is written to be read, not to be survived — if something below is unclear, ask (see the contact page).
Short version: this site has no accounts, no logins, no comment section, no newsletter and no forms. It never asks you for your name, your email address or anything else about you. The only data involved is what your browser sends automatically, and what the third-party services listed below collect.
What this site collects directly
Nothing. There is no server-side application here — the site is a set of static files. It stores nothing about you and has no database of visitors.
Third-party services
Cloudflare (hosting and delivery)
The site is served by Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes the requests needed to deliver pages to you, including your IP address, and may set a strictly necessary cookie (__cf_bm) to distinguish humans from automated traffic. This cannot be switched off without switching off the site. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
Plausible Analytics (page statistics, no cookies)
Plausible is used to count page views. It sets no cookies, stores no persistent identifier and collects no personal data. It records the page URL, referrer, and coarse device/country information, all aggregated. Nothing it collects can be traced back to an individual. See Plausible’s data policy.
Plausible is the only analytics on this site. Google Analytics was in use until 3 August 2026 and has been removed: it set _ga cookies containing a client identifier, and it answered the same question Plausible already answers without them. Nothing replaced it. If you visited before that date, you may still have _ga cookies for this domain; nothing here reads them any more, and clearing cookies for this domain will remove them.
The analytics script only loads on tearsofmetal.org itself. Preview and staging deployments load nothing.
Google AdSense (advertising)
Google AdSense is integrated on this site: its script (adsbygoogle.js) loads on every content page, so Google may set cookies when you visit. The following applies from now on:
- Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies — including the DoubleClick DART cookie — enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.
- Third-party vendors and ad networks other than Google may also serve ads on this site and may likewise use cookies.

No ads are being displayed yet, but the script is already running, so this section is written as being in force. A disclosure that lags the behaviour it describes — even by a day — is not a disclosure. The 404 page does not load the advertising script.
Consent, and where you are
If you visit from the EU, the UK or Switzerland, personalised advertising will not be enabled without a consent mechanism compliant with Google’s EU user consent policy. Until such a mechanism is in place, this site does not run personalised advertising for those regions.
You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing cookies for this domain and declining on the next prompt, or by blocking the relevant scripts in your browser.
What is never done here
- No personal information is ever collected, sold, rented or shared. There is nothing to sell.
- No precise location data is requested. The site never calls the geolocation API.
- No personally identifying information is placed in URLs, query strings or any data layer passed to advertising or analytics.
- No sensitive categories (health, religion, sexual orientation, and so on) are used for targeting or audience building.
- The site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of data about you, and to object to it. Since this site holds no data about you itself, such requests generally have to go to the third parties named above, and links to their own policies are given in each section. If you would rather start with me, write to the address on the contact page and I will point you to the right place.
Changes
Material changes to this policy will be reflected in the revision date at the top of the page. It is worth re-reading if advertising status changes, since that is the section most likely to move.
